Takeshi Nagaoka

My style of working is to use drawing inks, pencils and fineliner pens to produce black and white drawings, and to create accents within them
I mainly draw humans as a form of illustration.
My works extend from realistic to comical figures.

I want to express the sensitive and beautiful world, created with light and shadow.
In my works no humans are visible but I always draw while keeping the inkling of a human in my mind. My main motifs are kimonos, dolls, laces, lamps, candles, baskets, ribes, etc.

In our lives, we have to overcome powerful flows which one could call destiny and obstacles as big as mountains but we shine the brightest when we live our so called present to the fullest.

I draw while following my impulses.
Not knowing whether the impulse comes from my soul or brain, I simply draw what is within myself.
I often draw with paint or crayons on newspaper rather than on a canvas.
